Mercedes-Benz Develops Safety Lights

Now, the MB has a new technology called Active Night View Assist Plus (ANVAP), a device that directs light headlights to pedestrians in or along the path, thus making them more visible from a distance drivers.

ANVAP system uses infrared light and night vision camera (night vision camera). Infrared headlamps illuminate the road ahead that can not be seen with the human eye. The camera then captures and displays images on an instrument.

The system highlights the possible source of danger gives an interesting side effect, the pedestrians know that there is a car that approached him, so they are more aware or step aside. The system will not work when there are cars coming the opposite so as not to create glare against the driver.

"This development objective is to prevent collisions with pedestrians at night. With this concept, Mercedes-Benz not only protect the driver, but also make a significant contribution to improving safety for other road users, "explained Dr. Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management Responsible for Group Research and Head of Development, Mercedes-Benz Cars ..

All Mercedes-Benz will be provided ANVAP from the summer of 2011.
